What a Relief to Relieve myself of Social Media for 48 Hours!

Social Media

Disconnection from Social Media, Wow!  It was empowering! I turned off my Facebook notifications on my iphone 8+ and deleted it from my Samsung Galaxy 8.  That first night, it was super quiet at first.  I actually slept without interruptions.  No buzzing sounds.  I even silenced my text messaging and phone calls.

Once I woke up in the morning, I went downstairs in my kitchen and turned on the news.  I enjoyed learning of the past nights horrors in the morning, instead as they occurred.  I had apps that provided notifications from most news outlets.  It was so calm in my bedroom that I could hardly fall asleep.  I drank my coffee and began reading a little bit from my Food Network magazine.  I found some interesting recipes to try for dinner.  I found a recipe for an enchilada casserole.  It was delicious.

Day 2 was even easier because I was so tired at the end of day 1.  By my second day, It was so much easier.  I began looking through all of my cooking magazines.  It was amazing what I found in those magazines.  Every month, I must receive  about 20 magazines for cooking, fitness and traveling.  This was the first time that I've read any of the magazines in about a year.  I threw away unread magazines every month.

Later on Day 2, I went to the nail spa.  I really enjoyed my hot stone pedicure.  I went to sleep because I didn't have Facebook to entertain me.  When I left the nail salon, I enjoyed the quiet ride home.  I didn't even turn on my radio in the car.  It was so nice to have peace and quiet.  I could finally think clearly.  My mother passed about 2 years ago and I have spent little time in a quiet space.  This was so refreshing that I still have Facebook deleted from my Samsung Galaxy 8 and the iphone is on silent.  I don't think I want to hear the sound of the notification alerts.
